The leaves are falling. The rain has started. Autumn is in the air. With shorter days and plunging temperatures what can you do to entertain the kids during a pandemic?
Luckily, October has a ready made, Covid friendly solution in the form of a beloved tradition: the pumpkin patch. Whether you’re looking for corn mazes, animals or just the most gigantic pumpkin to carve on Halloween, you should be able to find it.
Here are some of our favorite pumpkin patches in the Vancouver area:
With so many activities, this pumpkin patch out in Maple Ridge had to divide itself in two. This place has everything you need to occupy a preschooler for a few hours: corn mazes, animals, games, model buildings made out of pumpkins, glow in the dark pumpkins. And if you want to see a pumpkin fire out of a cannon, you really should check it out.
This farm offers animals and pumpkin trails and even has a drive thru option for those who want to ensure social distancing protocols are followed during their pumpkin selection.
For those who don’t want to venture too far from the North Shore, the pumpkin patch at Richmond Country Farms will satisfy young pumpkin lovers with a wagon ride to the fields (masks mandatory!), a corn maze and a chance to select their perfect gourd.
What’s your favourite Vancouver pumpkin patch?
Editor’s note: Those who know our preschool well know that we have run our annual pumpkin patch for years. It’s a great event for young children but sadly, this year we felt that it just wouldn’t be responsible to have so many families in such a small space. Fingers crossed we’ll bring it back next year!
